CONCAFA Champions League | Semi-finals, 2nd legs
ALFA 1-1 ADELPHIA ARSENAL
(Adelphia win 2-1 on aggregate)
Adelphia pulled out another defensive/counter display against ALFA in Landor. Soaking up the pressure, Jordan Wilcox caught the ALFA defence flat-footed, teeing up Henry Thomas after 24 minutes to give a 2-0 advantage (and an away goal). It was all chasing for ALFA after that. With Adelphia keeping a resolute defence, ALFA played four up front. They finally scored when target-man Roman Baric made something out of nothing with just four minutes remaining. Adelphia skipper Jerome Mowabé masterminded and commanded the field of play for the full 90 minutes.
UANL TIGRES 3-0 OLYMPIANS
(Tigres win 4-2 on aggregate)
Olympians found themselves struggling early on in this tie. With the heat, the atmosphere created by the passionate Tigres fans, it was quite an intimidating atmosphere in Mexico. When André-Pierre Gignac struck after only seven minutes, Olympians knew they’d have their work cut -out. With it 2-2 on aggregate (and trailing 3-2 on away goals) Hernandinho hit the woodwork from a free-kick and Nelinho went close. In the second-half, a double from Tigres’ striker Eduardo Vargas took the game beyond reach for the Landor side.
UANL Tigres will face Adelphia Arsenal in the final on May 24th.
