CCL 2016-17 | Last Sixteen 2nd Legs
We’ll start with the stunning news coming out of the capital city- ANGEL FC have beaten Juvenese in an absolute stunner, following a 5-2 win after 90 minutes- 6-5 on aggregate.
First, there was the performance by Carlos Suárez- a hat-trick and two assists- a stand-out man of the match performance and maybe performance of the tournament so far!
Angel led 2-0 at half-time (both Suárez strikes) before Mulder scored two with a Jackson goal in-between them. Suárez scored his third with ten minutes to go- the place went bananas! With the scores tied on aggregate at 5-5 going into the last five minutes, Angel still needed one more as Juvenese had two away goals to Angel’s one. Enter Suárez’s stunning work to get to the byline and cross for Tracy Jackson to get his second of the evening and send Angel FC in to dreamland. Juvenese were devastated. I’ve not seen a two-leg game go this way in many a year. Fantastic viewing!
In the other ties involving ESL sides:
Adelphia Arsenal held Nova Porto to a 1-1 draw to go through on away goals. A slow and resolute defence job- Adelphia did just enough to advance.
ALFA beat Rosano 1-0 with a late Danny Marshall strike, catching the Latanians on the counter. ALFA won 3-0 on aggregate.
Olympians held Saprissa to a dull 0-0 draw, meaning Olympians went through 2-1 on aggregate.
