CCL 2016-17 | Last Sixteen 1st Legs

There were positive results for three of the ESL teams in the CONCAFA Champions League.

Adelphia Arsenal were held to a 2-2 draw against Nova Porto- having scored what may be two important away goals.

ALFA got an even better result, 2-0 away to Rosano Centrale. This was an unexpected result, with two first-half goals from the now talismanic centre-forward Roman Baric sealing the first leg. Centrale will have their work cut out next week in the ALFA Arena.

Olympians beat Saprissa 2-1 in Costa Rica on Wednesday, again two away goals scored- thanks to Nelinho and Bockel.

Also on Wednesday, Angel FC lost 3-1 away to Juvenese. Although we still wonder why Juvenese chose to play the first leg at home, perhaps this was their vindication. The defending champions looked very comfortable for 70 minutes against the Landor side. However, a late consolation goal, by Giovanni, has at least given them some hope for the second leg. Can they mastermind a 2-0 win?
