Copa: ALFA Crash out to Oakland

Copa Eboria, Third Round | Oakland

In a mild shock start to the third round of the Copa Eboria, Oakland Forest knocked out one of the favourites ALFA, 2-0 on Friday night. Goals from debutant Javier Esclalalda and regular player Martin Kendrick sealed the early exit for the Landor giants.

ALFA were missing Abou Diarra, Lauren Féyembé (International duty) and Roman Baric and Mike Mills (injuries). Coach Daniel Berkowitz expressed his regret at going out so early “we were missing key players out there tonight, but you have to give it to Oakland. They really stuck it to us all night long, we were out-muscled for most of the game. We’re really sorry for the fans that travelled. I’ve got to make sure that it doesn’t happen again.”

Oakland’s coach Sean Campbell was delighted with his teams resolve. “We needed to start well and we did. We pressed them, harassed them for each ball, held our shape well and took our chances. Javier [Escalalda] showed his class in the middle of it all. Really good start to the year.”
