McCarthy to Olympians confirmed

AC Olympians | Brian McCarthy

Olympians have signed free agent Brian McCarthy on a five-month deal. McCarthy was let go by New Jorg at the beginning of the month, by mutual agreement. The player had been training in his hometown trying to maintain his fitness, whilst his agent tried to enable a move to a top team. Continue reading “McCarthy to Olympians confirmed”

ALFA sign Peruvian starlet

ALFA | Esteban Alameida

ALFA have signed Peruvian U21 striker Esteban Alameida to a three year deal, following a deal with Atlético Manabaku. The deal was apparently worth ß10M (approx US$ 6.5 M).

Alameida will not be expected to jump straight into first-team action and get some time to acclimatise to the new club and environment.

Alameida will be wearing the number 20 shirt, according to the club website.

Welcome to the ESL Esteban!

ALFA loan Williams to New Jorg!

ALFA| New Jorg United | Andre Williams

ALFA have surprisingly loaned forward Andre Williams to New Jorg United for the remainder of the season as we approach the transfer window deadline day.

Williams has been out of the side for almost a year, since Roman Baric arrived on the scene and has been getting frustrated with his lack of first-team opportunities. He will be unable to play for New Jorg against ALFA when the two teams meet in February.

Top of the table clash: ALFA vs Adelphia

As we reach round 20 of the ESL this weekend, we have a clear contender for the potential game of the week: ALFA vs Adelphia Arsenal… the top two teams in the league battling it out.

Adelphia will be without Jerome Mowabé, ALFA without Lauren Féyembé and Abou Diarra; all due to African Cup international commitments). Both teams will still be putting out very strong sides on Saturday afternoon. Continue reading “Top of the table clash: ALFA vs Adelphia”

All quiet at the top, Kowalski injured

Round 18 of the ESL gave us some insight as to how some team will shape up over the next few months, with a few changes here and there, there’s a different feel to the ESL at this time of year. Here are the main ups and downs of round 18:

⇑ UP! Adelphia Arsenal, ALFA , Elverpool and New Jorg all won, showing off their strength in depth, with a few injuries, international call-ups and suspensions. In fact, ALFA’s win was away to title contenders Angel. So, a massive boost for their title chances.

⇑ UP! Olympians home draw with Melborg increased their unbeaten run to eight matches, having lost five of their first ten. Patrick Brady seems to have brought in stability to the team.

⇑ UP! Oakland Forest continued where they left off in late 2016. A big win away from home at impressive San Andreas was the perfect start to 2017. Javier Escalalda looked composed and assured in his first ESL game.

⇑ UP! Debut Goals: both Amorgan‘s Eduardo and Hallas HotspursDavid Sanches scored on their debuts! Double up! Sanches’ goal was the winner against LSG

⇓ DOWN! Victoria‘s home defeat to Pottsburgh (1-0) was more than a six-pointer. It shows a team that cannot compete with its rivals. Against a very average Athletic team, Victoria only managed two attempts on goal- none on target.

⇓ DOWN! Hillsborough and Carlton also lost (both away). The Bottom three are in danger of falling too far of the pace to remain in the league.

⇓ DOWN! New Jorg have lost talented playmaker Alex Kowalski for the rest of the season with a broken metatarsal. He injured his foot in the match against Hillsborough in a challenge with Jules Olsen. Olsen was not booked as it was seen as a 50-50 challenge – much to New Jorg Head Coach Chris Millers dismay.

Bosch China deal off!

Melborg | Mark van Boschkamp

Mark van Boschkamp’s deal in China has hit a snag, the latest news over foreign player restrictions appears to have scuppered the deal. Bosch has flown back to the Eborian capital city today. He missed the game with Olympians today, but will be expected to start in the midweek home game against Angel FC on Wednesday night.

MVB’s camp reported the issue to the media in the airport, saying that the whole thing has been a mess, the player was unavailable for comment. It will be interesting to see what kind of reaction he gets on Wednesday.

ESL Returns this weekend!

ESL Round 18 | 2016-17 Season

After a month of being away from us, the ESL returns with round 18 this weekend. Teams warmed up in the Copa Eboria, to differing results. There will be some new/old faces in the line-ups as the transfer window is still up and running. Here’s the rundown of the games:

Friday 20 Jan 2017

Seafax Strikers vs Adelphia Arsenal (8.00)

The high-flying Strikers will have to set out wisely to take points off the lead leaders. Adelphia will be without Mowabé and Bartowski, but otherwise pretty strong. Can Seafax get a positive result to kick-start the second-half of the campaign?

Saturday 21 Jan 2017

Angel vs ALFA

Potential game of the week, this one. Angel and ALFA are both fighting it out at the top of the table, Angel dropped points at the end of 2016, so will be looking to start 2017 at the right pace. ALFA coach Berkowitz may need to change tactics, but they are very, very good away from home.

Plus: Landor St. George vs Hallas
Amorgan vs Elverpool
Harteford Hammers vs Carlton
Victoria vs Pottsburgh Atheltic

Sunday 22 Jan 2017

Olympians vs Melborg

A quality match-up. Who would have thought these teams would be so low at the re-start? Olympians and Melborg have brought players in. Harrison is injured, van Boschkamp unavailable for Melborg . Olympians will have Conceicao ready and able to start. There should be goals (I know that’s the kiss of death!)

New Jorg United vs Hillsborough

New Jorg need to keep up the challenge at the top of the table, Hillsborough know they are now in the now-or-never stakes for lifting themselves out of trouble. If results don’t go their (Boro’s) way soon, they’ll be out of the league. United can rely on a full strenght line-up for this game. It’s all on the line!

Plus:  San Andreas vs Oakland Forest

Elverpool snap up Brazilian duo

Elverpool have completed two transfers today.

Midfielder/Second Striker Emerson Dosa joins from Goias, whilst wing-back/winger Dani Basso has joined form Atletico Parananse.  Both players will be looking to break into the starting eleven straight away, although they will find it very competitive.

The two players will not be in the matchday squad to play Amorgan  Celtic, but will be shown off to the fans then.

Welcome to the ESL Emerson Dosa and Dani Basso!

Lebeau And Berko Not Looking To Buy

Following the weekends Copa Eboria matches (with differing results) Adelphia Arsenal and ALFA’s head coaches had one thing in common: Neither are looking to buy or sell in this winter Transfer Window.

Adelphia’s Frank Lebeau said that “[he has] the perfect squad right now, when Jerome [Mowabé] comes back from international duty and [Chris] Bartowski is fit, we will be at full strength. We are not at the top without the merits of this squad. No?”

ALFA’s Daniel Berkowitz said that he is happy with the summer buys and with no one set to leave, is not looking to change something for the sake of it.

What about the others? Angel and New Jorg have been quite tight-lipped so far.
